Furniture Link UK Ltd currently employs 11 people at its site in Prees, near Whitchurch.

The company has now drawn up plans for new headquarters and a warehouse/distribution centre at Hortonwood Industrial Estate in Telford which would see staff numbers more than double.

James McConnell, from Furniture Link UK Ltd, said the building would provide office and storage space for furniture imported from around the world, ready for nationwide distribution.

He said: "Furniture Link UK was founded in 1998 and is now one of the leading suppliers to the trade of quality domestic furniture.

"We design, source and import from around the world and receive and distribute this furniture nationwide from Shropshire.

"The company has outgrown its existing facilities in north Shropshire and has been seeking a new site to allow it to consolidate and expand into for many years.

"Telford has been highlighted for its central location and infrastructure links, and Hortonwood in particular as a 'ready to go' development opportunity."

The plans also include a goods loading bay, car parking with 29 spaces for staff and visitors, cycle racks and landscaping of the site.

Planning officers at Telford & Wrekin Council are expected to make a decision whether to grant planning permission for the new buildings within the next two months.
