Franchisee Ralph Parker, who owns two McDonald's restaurants in Shrewsbury as well as the newly-opened Whitchurch branch, confirmed that 50 full and part-time positions will be created across the three sites by December.

Recruitment has started for the permanent positions after seeing "more customers through the door than ever" as the three restaurants are predicted to make a turnover of £6 million this year.

The Whitchurch restaurant now employs 83 staff but will be recruiting an additional 20 workers. And the restaurants in Shrewsbury, based on Pride Hill and Battlefield Road, currently have 130 employees across both sites and will be hiring another 30 people before the Christmas period sets in.

Mr Parker, who has been franchisee at the Shrewsbury sites for the past eight years, said: "The jobs are all permanent and most importantly come with real prospects."

The company will be attending the Shrewsbury Jobs Fair at Shropshire Council's Shirehall on September 27.
