Tickets on sale for Shropshire's business 'Oscars'
The cream of the county's economy will be celebrated at the Shropshire Star's new Excellence In Business Awards - and tickets are now on sale for the glittering presentation night.
A total of 22 companies will be battling for seven awards at the Oscars-style ceremony on April 3, compered by BBC Midlands Today presenter Joanne Malin.
The black tie occasion at RAF Cosford Museum will also be raising money for the Midlands Air Ambulance, which carries out around 2,000 missions each year, each costing £2,500. It receives no Government or lottery funding, and relies entirely on donations and fundraising.
Four companies are competing for the showpiece Business of the Year title - Saxonby of Shrewsbury, and three Telford companies, Digiland, Proto Labs, and Ra'alloy Ramps. Judges will be visiting all finalists over the coming few weeks, and the winners will be revealed on the awards night.
The manufacturing champion category will see Proto Labs compete with metal pressing and powder coating firm Salop Design and Engineering in Shrewsbury, and Sutton Maddock-based food and logistics insulation maker Seymour Manufacturing International.
In the Small Business section, Bridgnorth Print Services, Catering Centre UK in Telford, The Gift Experience in Oswestry and The Pontoon and Dock Company in High Ercall will vie for the prize.
Frame Wise Ltd in Presteigne, GWR Fasteners in Oswestry, and Ra'alloy Ramps will compete in the Excellence in Innovation category, and the Learning and Skills award is a fight between Hendra Healthcare of Ludlow, Henshalls of Newport, and Whittingham Riddell from Shrewsbury.
Customer Champion finalists are Dyke Yaxley of Shrewsbury, The Limes from Wellington, and Telford College of Arts and Technology, and Best Young Business will be Bronze Software Labs, AceOn Batters Solar Technology, Pipekit, or Elegant Finishing Touches.
