Shropshire care home scheme to create 100 jobs

More than 100 jobs could be created in north Shropshire if plans for a specialist care home go ahead.

The plans, submitted by Nigel Thorns Planning Consultancy on behalf of Hawk Homes Ltd, propose a 70-bed specialist dementia care centre, as well as a church and eight bungalows, as part of a two-phase development plan on land off Whitchurch Road, in Prees.

The application suggests more than 100 jobs could be created and comes after developers proposed 31 homes for the same site, near Whitchurch, earlier this month.

With the care centre to be run by local company Springcare, planners suggest a mix of carers, nursing staff, maintenance as well as kitchen and office staff to make a total of 105 new employees.

Construction of the Baptist church will be paid for by The Church Group, which runs the current church in the village and wants to create an improved base.

Along with the church will sit eight two storey homes, including one affordable house, and a car park of 18 spaces.

Developers submitted applications for 31 homes on land next to this site, with access from Whitchurch Road and have suggested that the build will provide a positive development to the village of Prees.

Comments can be made on the Shropshire Council website and the 21 day consultation period will begin tomorrow.
