Dairy Crest to set up £4 million innovation centre at Harper Adams University
Dairy Crest has agreed a deal with Harper Adams University in Shropshire that will see it invest £4 million in a new food innovation centre on the campus near Newport.
The Cathedral City and Clover manufacturer is currently in the process of winding down its plant at Crudgington, between Newport and Shrewsbury.
Now it has announced that it is to relocate its research and development and technical staff from the Crudgington site to Harper Adams from November.
Today bosses said that a contract has been signed for the move, which will initially use the upper floor of an existing building before moving into a purpose-built centre on the campus which will be developed over the coming year.
Dairy Crest chief executive Mark Allen said: "Innovation is at the heart of Dairy Crest's business and I see the new centre as key to delivering our business strategy over the next few years.
"We are already working closely with Harper Adams on several research projects and I am certain this will be a long-term partnership which will go from strength to strength."
