Invertek named Wales's top business at awards
Welshpool manufacturer Invertek Drives has been named Wales's top business at a prestigious awards ceremony.
The company, based on the Offa's Dyke Business Park, scooped both the International Business and Welsh Company of the Year – the top prize available on the night – at the South Wales Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.
Employing 153 people at its head office, Invertek designs and manufactures variable speed frequency drives for the control of electronic motors, and sells its products through partners and joint ventures in 80 countries.
Sales manager Tony Cox said: "We are absolutely thrilled to not only win the International Business Experienced Award, but also scoop the Welsh Company of the Year at the South Wales Chamber of Commerce Awards.
"Our dedication to technology and innovation means we are continually looking at ways to streamline production and increase capacity to continue to meet the growing global demand for our products.
"We have invested in additional logistics facilities and products in Welshpool to help accommodate this growth, as well as in in-house training programmes to reward and develop our workforce. We are delighted to have our efforts recognised through both of these prestigious awards."
The company is now recruiting for more roles at its Welshpool headquarters, with six roles in different parts of the business currently advertised.
Sales and marketing director Rhydian Welson added: "We are extremely proud to be a Welsh success story.
"Winning both awards is official recognition of the efforts put in by the whole team and we are very proud of Invertek's success to date."
In total 12 awards were dished out at a black tie ceremony The Vale Resort near Cardiff.
