Dairy giant Muller has announced plans to create 50 new jobs in Shropshire – and will offer the roles to some of the workers whose roles at Market Drayton are facing the axe.

The new roles at the company's Telford and Minsterley factories will be in the production of yoghurt and chilled desserts.

It follows growth in demand for the company's private label products which are manufactured at those sites.

Muller recently announced that 43 posts in Market Drayton were under threat as part of a review of operational efficiencies, and says that those who may be affected are being offered the chance to transfer.

Posts available at Telford and Minsterley include production operators, stores roles, process operators and engineering positions.

Muller's operations director Roger Emery said: "We are excited by the growth in private label yogurts and desserts and delighted to be able to create these new posts at Telford and Minsterley.

"We are offering careers in a business which continues to develop and aims to be the best dairy company in the UK.

"We currently employ almost 1,000 people in Shropshire and we intend to continue to build our business in the area."

Müller will host recruitment stands at jobs fairs in Telford, Manchester and Northampton throughout July, along with recruitment advertising and internal notices aimed at existing employees.

Open days will also be held at Telford on July 25 between 10am and 2pm, and on Wednesday July 29 from 4pm until 8pm.
