The 10-storey blue structure skyscrapers, which greets visitors to the town centre from the M54 and provide office accommodation for the town's biggest private sector employer, have been bought at auction by an unnamed private investor.

The £3 million deal is not expected to impact on the occupants of the offices in the two towers.

Capgemini UK, which has around 2,000 staff across sites in Telford providing support services to HMRC, is among the businesses which currently has offices in the towers, as well as its own block on the Stafford Park Industrial Estate.

The landmark tower blocks were completed in the early 1990s, with developers hailing it Shropshire's tallest office building.

Built by Tarmac Construction on behalf of Black Country twins Dom and Roy Richardson at a cost of around £16 million, the 150ft-tall building instantly became a key landmark in the ever-developing new town centre.

The deal for the 163,000 sq ft offices was completed at auction by London-based firm Helix Property Advisors.

In a statement, the company said: "The sale has been completed of Telford Plaza in Ironmasters Way."The property comprises two modern office buildings totalling 163,685 sq ft (15,204 sq m), let to tenants including CapGemini UK and Caffe Kix Limited, providing an annual rental income of £731,015."
