Toys 'R' Us all set to open new Telford store

Toys 'R' Us will open the doors of its new branch in Telford on Monday, bringing 13 jobs for the town.

The country's biggest toy retailer has completed the fit-out of a new branch in Telford Town Centre.

The company is expecting to see big trade in Lego, as well as toys relating to the Star Wars, Shopkins, and Frozen franchises in the run-up to this year's festive season.

Based in New Street in Telford Shopping Centre, the store will hold an official launch party tomorrow, when youngsters will have the chance to meet the retailer's giraffe mascot, Geoffrey.

New store manager Manny Sandhu said: "We've been looking for the right store in Telford town centre for some time so we are delighted to now be here with a great team of new staff ready to enjoy the Christmas festivities in the Shopping Centre.

"We'd like to welcome families, young and old, to join us in store next week and have a look at all the great new toy ranges."

"The team have been building displays of Thunderbirds, Star Wars, Shopkins and so many more, they've had immense fun preparing the store ready for launch.

"We'd like to offer a kind invitation to everyone in the Telford Shopping Centre to join us tomorrow – it'll be a great day to meet new customers."

Chris Jones, centre director at Telford Shopping Centre, said: "We are thrilled to welcome Toys R Us to Telford Shopping Centre this month. As such a well-known and respected brand we know it will be a great hit with shoppers – not only in the run up to Christmas but all year round.

"This opening comes hot on the heels of the new BHS Food Store launch and the expansion of Specsavers so it's a very exciting time for us as we continue to enhance the offer at the centre."

The company also has an outlet on the Meole Brace Retail Park in Shrewsbury.
