Shropshire chip shop owner's new store will create jobs

Jobs will be created when a convenience store opens on one of the county's busiest roads.

The owner of Newcott Fish and Chips on the A41 in Tern Hill, near Market Drayton, has been given permission to build a new store alongside their business.

The plans have been approved by Shropshire Council planning officers.

The shop will bring five jobs to the area – two part-time and three full-time.

It comes despite safety fears being raised by Stoke upon Tern Parish Council, which said the road was an accident blackspot. In 2012 biker Neil Mallin, 32, died when his bike collided with a van outside the fish and chip shop.

Rodney Bellamy, on behalf of applicant Baljinder Singh Chatha, said his client had successfully carried out a similar project in Prees Heath, near Whitchurch.
