Shropshire village post office is moving into Spar shop
Another Shropshire village post office is moving into a nearby shop, it has been confirmed.
The Baschurch branch will relocate from Byway DIY in Shrewsbury Road into the Spar shop – 260 metres down the road.
The move will see the post office open seven-days-a-week and its opening hours extended to 104 hours a week.
The branch will open from 7am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 8am to 10pm on Sunday. This is 58 hours a week more than is currently offered.
It will be the latest one to relocate and extend its opening hours across the region.
The service, which will launch at 1pm on October 6, will be provided at an open-plan counter in the Spar, where the Post Office terminal will sit alongside the till.
The new branch will be designed to Post Office guidelines to ensure easy access and that there is adequate space for wheelchair users.
Customers will be able to access a range of Post Office and mails services, including special delivery, local collect, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals.
The Spar store is run by family-owned convenience store operator Blakemore Retail. Stewert(CORR) Waldron, Blakemore Retail Post Office controller, said: "As a community retailer we are delighted to offer post office services in our convenience stores; local residents will now be able to access a wide range of Post Office services during our shop opening hours – in excess of 50 hours a week more than previously offered.
"We are confident customers will be pleased with the flexibility and convenience of the new Post Office service."The current Baschurch post office will close at 5.30pm on October 5.During this short period of closure before the new branch is operational Post Office services may be accessed at branchesfrom any convenient Post Office branch, including Harlescott Grange post office in Shrewsbury.
