Shropshire Cat Rescue charity's mascot Matilda is missing
A Shropshire rescue centre's mascot cat has gone missing, and her owners are appealing for her safe return.
Matilda, the mascot of Shropshire Cat Rescue, was last seen in the garden of her home in Shifnal on Thursday, September 19, by owner Susie Phillips just before she left for work.
Matilda makes regular appearances at shows and events across the county, and was recently seen at the Festival at the Edge and Shrewsbury Folk Festival.
Mrs Phillips said: "We are extremely worried about her as she is very nosey and fast so may have sneaked into a shed or garage without anyone being aware of her.
"We have posted leaflets around the local area asking people to check their sheds and garages. We have also put posters up on notice boards in Shifnal and we are using Facebook and Twitter to help us to find her.
"Our neighbours and friends are looking out for her but we still haven't found Matilda."
Matilda had a difficult start after her mum was run over when she was only a week old.
Matilda's left eye never opened properly and she developed an ulcer, which meant it later had to be removed.
She was one of three kittens taken in by the rescue centre, and while the other two were found permanent homes, Matilda was left behind and Mrs Phillips decided to make her the centre's mascot. Now the couple are asking people in the Haughton Road and Worfe Road areas of Shifnal to check their sheds and garages.
Matilda is all black except for a white stripe on her belly between her back legs and a few white hairs on her chest.
She was wearing a bright pink safety collar, which she may have lost, but is micro chipped.
Matilda is just over a year old but she is quite small for her age.
