School inspectors delighted at changes since report for special measures
A small Shropshire school, which came out of special measures in October, has received a glowing Ofsted report.
Inspectors visited Hope CE Primary School, near Minsterley, last month and found that significant work to improve teaching and achievement had been carried out by staff.
They rated the school, which has just 39 pupils, as good in every respect and praised rising standards in English, maths and literacy.
The school was placed into special measures in January 2012 under a previous headteacher.
The report said: "Achievement is now good and is improving.
"The decline in standards has been reversed and they are now broadly average. There are variations from year to year because the performance of individual pupils can make a big difference to the average performance of the small number of pupils in year groups.
"Children like to learn, concentrate well and persevere in completing tasks. They achieve well because all staff have high expectations of them. All pupils say they enjoy mathematics."
Inspectors found the quality of teaching to be good and the children's attitude to work and safety was also praised
Head Kirsty Foulkes said: "This is a brilliant achievement and one we are justifiably proud of. It takes a team effort to get a report such as this. When I took over, the school morale was at rock bottom but, as can be seen in the report, we now work together and they work above and beyond what is expected.
"The report recognises the dedication of the community in making the school."
