Brave Molly's family to hold Market Drayton charity ball
Little Molly Noden was just six years old when her life was turned upside down after doctors diagnosed her with leukaemia.
Since receiving the news in September 2011, brave Molly spent three weeks receiving treatment at Birmingham Children's Hospital and has also had a bone marrow transplant, regular check-ups, chemotherapy and physiotherapy.
In the past two-and-a-half years – which her parents have described as a "rollercoaster" – Molly has stayed positive and has drawn strength from the support of her family.
Now she, her parents Heather and Ian and brother Ben, 11, have received wonderful news – Molly, now eight, is in remission.
Mr and Mrs Noden, who say it could be up to five years before she is given the all-clear, have described their daughter as an "inspiration".
Mum Heather said: "We are delighted she is now in remission. She has been a very strong little girl, she never complained and got on with things. She has overcome obstacles very well. Things like losing her hair didn't really bother her.
"When she was well enough to go to school she got glowing reports. She has been determined to succeed.
"The last couple of years have been like a rollercoaster. It has been a journey you wouldn't wish on you worst enemy."
Mrs Noden said her daughter was diagnosed with leukaemia after she started looking unwell in August 2011.
"We took her to the Cottage Hospital in Pwllheli and they couldn't see anything wrong with her. We then took her to doctors in Market Drayton and they couldn't pinpoint what was wrong with her. But her health deteriorated, she became pale, had joint pains and wasn't eating.
"We took her to the A&E in Telford and she was diagnosed with leukaemia in September. She spent almost three weeks at Birmingham Children's Hospital.
"In the last two-and-a-half-years she has had oral chemotherapy, lumbar punctures, high-dose steroids antibiotics. She had a huge dose of chemotherapy which increased on a daily basis and had to have blood counts every two weeks.
"Now that she is in remission, she still has regular check-ups and physio appointments. She shouldn't need any more chemotherapy. It will take a while for her strength to return."
Mrs Noden said she wanted to thank everyone for their support.
"As a family we are thankful to everyone who has helped us through this. e support has been amazing," she said. "Molly goes to Market Drayton Junior School and went to the infant school before. The staff at both have been fantastic. We hope a cure can be found for all cancer in future."
Molly's family is now organising a charity ball and three-course dinner at the Tern Hill Hall Hotel, near Market Drayton on September 12.
Mrs Noden said: "We held a fundraiser two years ago at the Red Lion, in Market Drayton, and raised a phenomenal amount of money. We are now looking to do the same in September where we will be raising money for CLIC Sargent, Ronald MacDonald House and the Kids Cancer Charity."
Mrs Noden is appealing for donations for the event. Call her on 07974 448005.
