Market Drayton market wins high praise from traders and customers alike
As the success of a Shropshire market continues, organisers are looking at extending it into new areas with new stalls.
LSD Promotions runs the market in Market Drayton and, after a lot of work over the last 12 months, it has managed to get more than 60 stalls in the town on a Wednesday.
This has brought in hundreds of people to Market Drayton on a weekly basis and the market's management have branded it a success.
Dermot McGillicaddy, who manages the market, said: "Market Drayton was a market which had lost its way and what it needed was a specialist management company like ourselves to come in."
Mr McGillicaddy said: "We are talking about getting an antiques section to the market. We are hoping we can develop this and help the market carry on being the success it has been."
Market traders have been impressed with the way the market is run and how well it is going. Anthony Watson, 48, who has the A Watson clothes stall, said: "I do other markets including Sandbach and Congleton and Market Drayton is the best by far. It has really picked up here over the last eight months."
Sean Palmer, 37, who runs a sock and clothing stall, said: "I have been doing this stall for 35 years. Market Drayton has become a nice regular market and a lot of that is thanks to the market management here who have brought in a lot of new traders. It's a joy to come here."
Chris Davies, 35, from the Chorlton Cheshire Cheese stall, said: "We have been at the market for a couple of months and we have found it really, really popular."
And it is not just traders enjoying the market, with people travelling from all over the county to have a look.
Roger Nutt, 70, from St Georges in Telford, said: "I come here nearly every week from Telford to just to go around the market."
Derek Watmore, 86, from Pontesbury, said: "It is certainly one of the better ones in Shropshire."
