Watch: Shropshire gardeners flock to annual event to help boost animal rescue centre
More than 800 perennials were on sale when a village hosted its annual plant sale over the weekend.
Hostas, day lilies, crocosmias, special grasses, heleniums and hellebores were on display at Astley Abbotts Village Hall, near Bridgnorth, on Saturday.
Homemade cakes and refreshments were also available and all the proceeds that were made on the day will go to the Cuan Wildlife Rescue Centre, in Much Wenlock.
Organiser Reg Gregg said: "This year's event went really well, and we have managed to raise about £1,331 for the charity, which is better than last year.
"But this year's seemed to be busier than any other year. We easily had around 120 people come to the event.
"When we opened the doors at 9am it was like being at Harrods – everyone wanted to come inside to see what we had to offer. This will be the 11th year we have raised money solely for Cuan House and all our proceeds will again go to the charity."
Cuan House was founded in the 1980s by Megan Morris-Jones, who first began looking after wildlife while living on the island of Luing off the west coast of Scotland. She moved to Much Wenlock in 1989 and set up Cuan House, which remains the only wildlife centre in Shropshire to offer cover seven days a week and out-of-hours emergency support for injured creatures.
On Saturday there will be a open day and dog show at Cuan House from 10am to 4pm.
