Letter: Solution for buses
Regarding bus services between Shifnal and Telford, may I refer to the new X92 fast bus service every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday introduced between Shifnal and Telford on May 26.
Whoever thinks out these timetables never travels by bus, because if one looks at the Arriva timetables it is madness to provide another service at enormous cost to the council taxpayers when the existing services should be improved and rationalised.
When the 891 service was running to Wolverhampton and vice versa hourly it was most satisfactory to Shifnal and Albrighton residents.
I have studied the current timetables from Shifnal, Victoria Road to Telford Town Centre Bus Station and vice versa and note that it is incredibly obvious that this route is now saturated with services to such an extent that for example on the May 29, at 2pm I was the only passenger on the X92 from Telford Town Centre to Shifnal, Victoria Street.
What Mr Crossly, Arriva's local manager and Shropshire Council needs to provide is a rational, regular, reliable service for the residents of towns and villages and not the current spasmodic unreliable sometimes pathetic service.
I suggest that the new X92 express service is not really needed. What is needed together with the hourly 891 service is simply an hourly 892 service between Telford Town Centre and Wolverhampton and vice versa rerouted along the A464 between Shifnal and Albrighton.
An hourly re-routed 892 service between Telford Town Centre and Wolverhampton and vice versa would also serve the expanding southern part of Shifnal and resolve the intolerable overcrowding of buses serving Albrighton.
