Hope House at 21: Keep the donations rolling in
Fundraising is absolutely vital for Hope House Children's Hospice – as important now as it was when it was formed 21 years ago.
George Miah and his wife Julie visited the hospice last week with a cheque for £2,100, to represent the 21st anniversary, raised as part of their 40th anniversary celebrations. During May the family also held two charity nights to raise funds for a number of charities including the Hope House donation.
A birthday ball a couple of weeks ago also eventually raised more than £58,000.
But the charity is just as touched by smaller donations, including the little boy who recently sold a few of his toys at the garden gate and raised a tenner.
Each of those contributions was absolutely as valuable as the other.
From coffee mornings to cycle rides and zumbathons to sponsored walks, there are hundreds of different ways family, friends and work colleagues can help Hope House.
Sarah Johnson, who is area fundraiser for Shropshire and Powys, said details of how to get involved were available on its website or by contacting the charity direct.
She said : "We would love people to support the exciting events our fundraising teams run every month of the year.
"Details of all the balls, adventure challenges, ladies' lunches, sporting events and so on can be found at the events section of our website.
"People may have their own ideas for an event they would like to organise themselves. If so, we would love to hear from them. Just download a registration form, complete it to let us know about the plans and either email or post it to us.
"As soon as it reaches us we can contact you to offer support and provide you with materials such as posters, tickets, balloons, banners and sponsor forms."
