Meanwhile in Shrewsbury, chart star Katie Melua held the audience at the Quarry spellbound as she kicked off a weekend of events there by performing hits like Closest Thing To Crazy and Mary Pickford. And they showed just why they have been described as a singing phenomenon, by stunning the audience with their repertoire.

Melanie said before the show that she had been looking forward to performing so close to home.

All Angels took to the stage with the haunting Steal Away To Jesus followed by a wide range from pop and classical songs.

All AngelsThe second half followed a similar style to the first from the classical Pi Jesu, Robbie Williams's Angels and Windmills of Your Mind, from the Thomas Crown Affair film.

They drew their repertoire to a close with The Sound of Silence.

Concluding the concert, Melanie said they were honoured to have been invited to perform on the pavilion stage at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod.

She said: "It is such an honour. We have been excited about coming here and it's been completely worth it."
