Caustic comedian Jimmy Carr is making a welcome stop at Telford's Oakengates Theatre this month as part of a series of warm up gigs for his forthcoming winter stand-up tour, Joke Technician.
Carr takes to the stage on Thursday July 24 for two separate 75-minute gigs (without intervals) at 8pm and 10pm, and audiences can get a slice of the action for £15 a ticket.
"This show is exactly the same as last year's except every single word," he remarks on his website.
"It's rude, crude and offensive but those aren't the only reasons you'll enjoy it - not for the faint-hearted (the faint-hearted should also avoid salt)."
Born in London to Irish parents, Carr worked as a marketing executive for a large oil company before throwing in the towel to pursue a career in stand-up.
He's since enjoyed a hugely successful comedy career, winning popular acclaim for both his stand-up routines and his comedy quiz shows such as 8 Out Of Ten Cats, as well as a string of appearances in recent blockbuster's like Alien Autopsy, I Want Candy and Stormbreaker.
His 'Joke Technician' tour later this year will bring him to Birmingham Symphony Hall on October 3 and to Wolverhampton Civic on November 28 and 29, and he's clearly looking forward to it.
"I'm a big fan of the UK at the moment," he recently said in an interview. "Places like Manchester and Birmingham have really taken off in the past few years.
"When I first started touring, about seven years ago, Birmingham was in a bit of a state. Now it's this fabulous place where you can't fail to have a good time."
