Drink for St George
Drinkers can raise a glass to the patron saint of England when a celebration beer festival returns to a small Shropshire market town.
The festival is the centrepiece of Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club's St George's Weekend next month and will feature the products of breweries within a 25-mile radius of the town.
Already confirmed are Cleobury Mortimer-based Hobson's, Ludlow Brewery, Three Tuns, Bewdley Brewery, Enville Ales, Wye Valley and Bathams from the Black Country. Cider makers Robinsons from Tenbury Wells will also be there.
Organisers hope to make the festival an annual event.
A spokesman said: "As every patriot knows, St George's Day is April 23. The aim of the weekend festival is to involve as much of the community as possible and make this an annual occasion.
"With such a great selection of local producers there's a wide range of award-winning beers available."
Tickets for the festival on April 24 and 25 are £5 in advance or £6 on the day. Included in the price is a commemorative glass and the drinker's first pint. The event is being staged in association with Cleobury Mortimer Chamber of Trade.
Food lovers will also be catered for in the festival when a Taste Of Cleobury serves up a chance for local businesses to showcase their produce on April 24.
An Open Mic event will also take place on April 24.
