Concert promoters have reported slow ticket sales ahead of a music festival in Shrewsbury.

A host of top artists are due to perform in the town over the May Bank Holiday weekend including soul legend Alexander O'Neal and the Australian Pink Floyd Show.

The festival will take place at the West Mid Showground from May 28 to 30.

The event is being organised by promoters Show Time Events.

Matt Davies, business co-owner, said: "Ticket sales have started off slowly. We've sold about 500 to 600 tickets but we'd like to sell a minimum of 3,000 to 4,000 a night."

"We'll be putting posters up and sending out 20,000 leaflets across Shropshire in the next five days."

On Friday, the Aussie Pink Floyd tribute act top the bill supported by Irish band Glyder. The Australian Pink Floyd Show is the only Floyd tribute band to be asked to perform for a member of Pink Floyd, namely David Gilmour's 50th birthday celebrations in London.

On Saturday, the headliners will be the Earth, Wind and Fire Experience supported by the Gibson Brothers, Alexander O'Neal, the Temptations, the Drifters and Rose Royce.

Alexander O'Neal has built up a reputation as one of the world's finest contemporary soul singers. His career has spanned 25 years and has seen him collaborating with stars such as Patti Labelle, Janet Jackson and Gladys Knight.

On Sunday, the programme will feature the Mike Baker Band with singers doing 1940s swing, supported by NSO with the Opera Babes.

Tickets for the first two nights are £22 and for the last night the entry fee is £15.

There will be a number of food stalls and bars. To book call 0300 1234 234 or click here.
