TV and radio star Phill Jupitus is coming to Shropshire next month as part of his national tour to publicise his new book.

Organisers say tickets are selling fast for the comic's Oswestry show.

The star, who regularly appears on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, QI and I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue is coming to Oswestry for one evening only to do some stand-up, a question and answer session and a talk about his new book Good Morning Nantwich, Adventures in Local Radio.

The show takes place at The Ironworks in Oswestry on December 8.

It has been organised by Carrie Morris from the Booka book shop.

Mrs Morris said: "We're so excited to invite Phill Jupitus to Oswestry and to take part in the launch of his book Good Morning Nantwich. We're sure everyone who comes along will have a fabulous evening."

She added: "We are holding it in The Ironworks because our shop is too small.

"We have about 120 tickets for sale. It is great that two Oswestry businesses are benefiting from the visit. Normally if you want an author to come you have to pitch to their agent but on this occasion Phill Jupitus went on national TV saying he was organising his own tour and asked for bookshops to get in touch with him.

"We tweeted him and he tweeted us back and that was how it was organised."
