Five Live's Shelagh Fogarty in talk at Shrewsbury School

Renowned BBC broadcaster Shelagh Fogarty will visit Shrewsbury School tonight to give two separate talks on her fascinating career in journalism.

The co-host of Nicky Campbell's Radio Five Live breakfast show will be delivering anecdotes from the glamour of covering Madonna and Guy Ritchie's wedding to being brought down to earth by reporting on the Spanish train bombings.

Audiences will also find out how it felt to have a gun pointed at her while reporting for ITV's Tonight with Trevor McDonald.

She will also tell of her reaction to an expletive-strewn appearance by metal band Rage Against the Machine and why she decided to cross the picket lines to go to work during the 2005 BBC Strike.

The talks will take place in the Ashton Theatre on January 20 and 21, helping to raise funds for a number of causes.

Giles Bell, spokesman for Shrewsbury School, said: "Shelagh will be retelling some of her most memorable broadcasting moments and answering questions on the night to anyone brave enough to turn the microphone on her.

"Both evenings are open to all members of Shrewsbury School and the local community. All proceeds from the events will go to Shrewsbury House, a youth and community centre in West Everton, Liverpool, and Depaul UK, a charity that helps young people who are homeless, vulnerable and disadvantaged."

Talks start at 8pm. Tickets are £5 or £2.50 to students.
