Radio Two DJ Simon Mayo to star at Shrewsbury book event
DJ turned author Simon Mayo will be appearing at this year's Shrewsbury Children's Bookfest, organisers revealed today.
Mayo currently presents the Drive Time show on Radio Two. He has turned his hand to writing, penning the children's tales Itch and Itch Rocks.
He will be at the Bookfest's May Festival between May 3 and May 6.
Organisers say this year's festival line-up would also include master storyteller and Bookfest patron Michael Morpurgo who will be talking about his latest book, A Medal for Leroy.
Jonny Duddle – illustrator for the Oscar-nominated animation The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists – will be introducing his new children's book and taking people behind the scenes in the world of film.
And Stuck, written by the picture book sensation Oliver Jeffers, has been adapted into a new theatre production for young children.
Joanna Hughes, for Bookfest, said: "It is an exciting time of year as events and authors come into place to deliver another year of vivid and memorable literary events for children in Shropshire.
"As the organising committee, we witness year after year how inspired and enthused children are by coming to a Bookfest event – and why the top children's writers are so hugely popular with their audiences."
