Ed Byrne, Lee Nelson and Ardal O'Hanlon are among the top names at Oakengates Theatre @ The Place as part of the autumn/winter programme, which will end with the pantomime Aladdin from December 5.

The autumn of comedy will kick off on September 4 with the visit of Tom Stade, who made a big impact when he appeared on Channel 4's comedy gala from the O2 in London, while Australian comic Steve Hughes, star of Live at the Apollo, visits on September 26.

Live at the Apollo host Lee Nelson has set out the theme for his show on October 3, saying: "Go on, it's not like there's anything else to do in Telford!"

Nelson is a regular on television and stage and his BBC Three shows Lee Nelson's Well Good Show and Well Funny People were watched by more than two million people.

Irish stand-up Byrne will be regaling the audience with tales of his life as a 40-something on October 22 with his Roaring Forties tour.

Father Ted star O'Hanlon will bring his style of observational comedy to the theatre for a stand-up solo show on October 31.

Mock The Week star Milton Jones will be the last big comedy name to appear at the theatre, on November 20, before it goes into pantomime mode.

Some of the shows have age restrictions. For more information or to book call (01952) 382382 or visit www.theplacetelford.com
