Crowds out for Telford Christmas lights switch-on
[gallery] Hundreds turned out to see Peppa Pig switch on the Christmas lights in Telford.
Despite the bitterly cold weather, visitors flocked to Telford Shopping Centre to watch Peppa and her brother George flick the switch alongside stars of this year's panto Aladdin Asa Elliott and Ian Billings.
There was a huge cheer from the crowd on the Ash Grey Car Park last night when the two TV stars made their appearance.
The ceremony also saw the launch of the centre's Santa's Grotto, with families queuing for almost two hours to have the chance to meet Father Christmas.
Natasha Stockton, 25, from Muxton was first in line at the Grotto with four-year-old son Kaynen Coulbeck and little sister Alix Evans, 10, from Wellington.
She said: "This is the second year in a row that we have come.
"They really like it. Kaynen absolutely loves Father Christmas, he's so excited."
The evening was compered by Free Radio Breakfast DJs Fresh and Cat who also brought with them the station's dancing hamster mascot who brought Telford youngsters up on stage to teach them some of his moves.
There were also appearances by the stars of this year's pantomime at The Place theatre, Oakengates as well as the stars of Telford Tigers Ice Hockey team.
