Lloyd Webber will be at St Chad's Church on April 11 with the English Chamber Orchestra.

The performance, which has been organised by the Shropshire Music Trust, will feature music by English composers Elgar, Walton, and Vaughan Williams as well as Howard Goodall and William Lloyd Webber, Julian's father.

Lloyd Webber is no stranger to Shropshire, having performed at Shrewsbury's Theatre Severn and Ludlow's St Laurence's Church in recent years.

His appearance is one of the main highlights of the Shropshire Music Trust's programme of spring events.

Also taking place this year will be a talk by Professor Christopher Hogwood CBE, founder of the Academy of Ancient Music.

He will present 'The Past In Another Country', where he will speak about the journey of a musical manuscript from composition through to concert hall.

The event will take place at The Lion Hotel in Shrewsbury on April 26.

Director of Shropshire Music Trust Kate Hogwood said: "We are delighted that over the last 30 years we have been able to showcase the finest top-quality, diverse and dynamic music from the most acclaimed musicians, and indeed from the rising stars of the very best on the classical music scene."

The first show of the year will take place at The Hive on January 17, when vocal group Juice will perform.

On February 28, the Astrum Guitar Duo will play at SpArc Theatre in Bishop's Castle, while on March 22, the Pasadena Roof Orchestra will be at Alington Hall at Shrewsbury School.

The spring season will finish on May 23 at St Chad's Church with the Tenebrae Consort performing Chant and Polyphony by Candlelight. For more information visit www.shropshiremusictrust.com
