The show was Burton Borough School's fourth consecutive year of musicals.

Director Laura Burgess promised that it would be the most impressive show yet – and her 80-strong cast delivered.

The audience was on its feet and clapping as the youngsters belted out the Footloose theme tune at the end of the show, which was on for four sell-out nights.

Jordan Hughes-Harvey, 15, had the crowd in stitches as slow-witted cowboy Willard Hewitt. Aspiring politician Ellis Snookes, 16, was the perfect choice for overprotective father, the Rev Shaw Moore. Sasha Vandesande, 14, delivered some wonderful solos and Louise Browning impressed as bubbly Rusty.

Fifteen-year-old Charlie Wood played

Ariel Moore, the rebellious preacher's daughter with energy and style.

But star of the show was undoubtedly 15-year-old Ben Pierce as Ren McCormack.

Ben was on stage for almost every minute of the show and was flawless throughout.
