Hrvatska zvijezda Belinda Bedekovi? je Shropshire vjen?anje gost*
* Croatian superstar Belinda Bedekovic is Shropshire wedding guest - She is a musical superstar in her native Croatia, but Belinda Bedekovic's first visit to Shropshire went by almost unnoticed.
Belinda is used to having bodyguards by her side when she tours Europe playing the keytar – a mixture of an electric guitar and a keyboard.
But yesterday the glamorous 44-year-old was only too happy to take a back seat as she accompanied her Shropshire fiancé Terence Garbett to his daughter's wedding at Christ Church in Wellington, Telford.
Despite enjoying celebrity status in some European countries, particularly Croatia and Germany, Belinda does not yet have the same following in Britain.
In fact she had not even visited these shores before flying in last week in preparation for the wedding.
Belinda said: "I haven't had a chance to see much of Shropshire because it's been so busy getting ready for the wedding.
"But hopefully now I will have a chance to look around, and today we are planning to go to London for two or three days.
"I've never been to England so it's all new for me. The houses look different than in other parts of the world – they have that old, historic style."
Belinda said that even though celebrity-culture is not as intense in Croatia as it is in Britain, she was still enjoying a break from the limelight.
She said: "Croatia is a small country so we don't really have big stars in the same way as you do in England or America.
"I can walk around the square in Zagreb normally. People stare sometimes or ask for a photo, but it's okay.
"I have really enjoyed my time in Shropshire and I plan to spend my time between here and Croatia to be with Terry.
"The only problem is that I am scared of flying."
And Belinda has enjoyed swapping the cold Croatian breakfast for an English fry-up.
She added: "Terry made me an English breakfast and I adore it."
Design engineer Terence, of Wellington, found himself splashed across newspapers and magazines when he proposed to Belinda in November last year.
The happy couple have enjoyed a whirlwind romance. Terence, 64, first came across Belinda's incredible keytar talents on her YouTube channel on the internet.
His daughter Danielle bought tickets for him to see Belinda in concert in Austria.
Terence managed to catch Belinda's eye and she invited him backstage. They stayed in touch and romance blossomed.
Any thoughts of a low-key engagement were dashed when an MP witnessed the proposal in a Zagreb restaurant and broke the story to the media.
But Terence is now getting used to his finance's fame – and the couple plan to marry in Telford next year before moving out to one of Belinda's four homes in Croatia.
The build-up to yesterday's wedding between Terence's daughter Danielle Garbett, 27, and Edward Davies, 30, was Belinda's first chance to meet her finance's family face-to-face.
Terence said: "It's been really nice to have Belinda here and it's great that she has met the kids.
"I'd planned to show her the sights of Shropshire but we haven't really had the time. I'll have a chance in the future, though."
Belinda added: "It's been great to meet Terry's family. We've spoken on Skype before and it's like I've known them for 10 years."
Belinda has just finished her latest European tour and before that was performing across America.
She is the daughter of an opera singer and a classic guitarist and started writing music aged seven.
Amongst her claims to fame is writing and producing music for comedian Sacha Baron Cohen's film Borat, which made more than £150m in the box office.
She appeared alongside Cohen playing her keytar on the Conan O'Brien show in America, which is watched by millions.
Belinda, known as "the fastest finger on the remote keyboard", also won a Zlatna Koogla award in 2007 as Croatia's instrumentalist of the year and was nominated for woman of the year in a Croatian magazine.
She recently wrote a song about her love for Terence.
Edward Davies and Danielle Garbett, who have three young children together, were married by the Reverend Alastair Wood at noon yesterday (SUN).
Mr Davies said: "Belinda is a very down to earth person. She's fairly humble and comes from a family-orientated background.
"We're really pleased that she could be here."
The reception was held at the Shropshire Golf Centre in Muxton.
