Sleap Airfield weekend a success despite damp weather.
Wet weather couldn't dampen the success of an annual airfield event.
Hundreds of visitors to Sleap Airfield, near Wem, were treated to plane demonstrations and an exhibition of vintage cars.
The event, which was organised by Shropshire Aero Club in partnership with the Military Vehicle Trust, saw two German Bücker Jungmann planes entertain visitors with flying demonstrations alongside the military vehicles on show.
Roy Dolton, president of the society, said: "It wasn't anything like the turnout we had last year, but it was still a great day.
"I think the weather did put people off quite a bit, and it would have been nice to see more people there, but those that did come had a good time."
The aero club hosted the event over the weekend (MAY 24 & 25) in aid of Wem Town Hall Community Trust, which funds the day-to-day opening of the town's hall.
Mr Dolton said: "We had a whole range of military vehicles there - anything as small as a Jeep, up to big lorries. And we had the vintage aircrafts, some that were used during the war.
"For me the highlight of the day was hosting a 95-year-old lady who was stationed at the Sleap airfield during the Second World War.
"We treated her and her family to lunch and showed her round the museum. She hadn't been back since the war, and she had a lot of stories to tell us, so it was really good to talk to her."
It is not yet known how much money was raised, but Mr Dolton said the club was grateful for the support from visitors over the weekend.
