Newport comedy festival cancelled due to poor ticket sales
Newport Comedy Fringe, which was due to be held this weekend, has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales.
Some of the best up-and-coming comedians were set to be coming to Newport as they prepare for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Eight comedians were due to be performing over two nights at Adams' Grammar School on Saturday and Sunday.
But organisers admitted today sales had been "very low".
They said online ticket agent www.wegottickets.com will contact everyone who has purchased a ticket online to arrange a refund.
Due to be playing was James Acaster, who has twice been nominated for the Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Show as well as appearing on TV's Never Mind the Buzzcocks and 8 Out of 10 Cats.
Also due to appear were Joel Dommet, who has appeared on Russell Howard's Good News and Sweat the Small Stuff, Jason Cook and 25-year-old American comedian Alex Edelman.
