Veil lifted on Shropshire couple's TV show wedding day
Shropshire newly-weds Scott and Verity Adams have finally seen what went on behind the scenes of their reality TV wedding.
Scott and Verity, of Telford, last night watched the episode of BBC3's Don't Tell The Bride which saw the bridegroom plan the entire ceremony on a budget of £12,000.
And with Scott being a rock star turned exotic zoo keeper, it was no surprise his animal instincts got the better of him with a jungle-themed bash.
Scott, 31, is lead singer of rock band Envy of the State which toured all over America and he also runs Telford Exotic Zoo in Donnington Wood.
Verity, 26, told the camera crew: "I wouldn't want anything to do with a jungle theme because our life is all about the zoo."
But Scott had other ideas. "I would like to take our wedding and throw it in the rain forest and that's exactly what I'm going to do," he said.
The show began with scenes of the couple walking hand in hand over the Iron Bridge, eating ice creams and playing around the Telford sign at the town centre.
Verity recalled the romance of when they first set eyes on one another.
She said: "We first met in the girls toilets of a local bar where Scott was singing. He was like some massive celebrity that had been on tour around America."
She added: "You told me you loved me on the first date. I realised I was in love when he wrote me a song and played it to me topless. I cried."
Paramedic Verity said she hoped she would be the one under the spotlight for her big day.
"Scott definitely takes centre stage in the relationship," she said.
"For once I would just like people to look at me first and see that it's not just about Scott and the Scott show, it's about the Verity and Scott show."
The couple parted and Scott was reunited with his bandmates as they began to plan the wedding.
Meanwhile, Verity and her ladies in waiting visited her dream venue , a beach fort on the Cornish coast featuring beautiful sea views.
But Scott was off to the Eden Project booking a £3,200 rainforest themed do, complete with live crocodile ring bearers.
He blew the lion's share of the budget on life-size plastic animals including a zebra, alligator, gorilla, Bengal tiger and tortoise.
This left just £100 for his bride's dress which came from eBay.
"So long as she doesn't know where it's come from it's going to be fine," said Scott.
His hen party plans fell a little flat when he organised for the girls to make their own rock video in a karaoke suite before being treated to children's party food and Lambrini.
"This looks a bit lame," said Verity. "I wish there was a bit of being able to go out and let my hair down."
Meanwhile Scott's stag do saw him living it up at a strip club in London's Soho drinking Moet.
The hen do part two saw the girls having pole dancing lessons before dancing the night away in C:21 nightclub in Shrewsbury. Next Scott bought bridesmaids dresses from Primark and when Verity was finally allowed to try on her dress just 11 hours before the wedding there were tears of unhappiness.
When the gown arrived in a box Verity said she felt she had missed out on seeing the dress hanging in a boutique and trying it on with a glass of wine.
"Everything that should be special has been taken away from me," she cried.
She found it had loose threads and beads hanging off. She said: "I've never felt more unspecial in my entire life to be honest."
And it wasn't just the quality that didn't measure up. "I literally can't move in it it's so tight," she said.
An unexpected trip to the seamstress saved the day but it meant the boys had stitched themselves up when it came to the budget.
But when it came to the big day it was a roaring success.
Speaking after the show aired at 9pm, Verity said: "I am really pleased with how we came across on the show.
"There was a lot of stuff that was missed out and I was really worried but I didn't need to be. We have been married since March and it has been a quiet time since then.
"He is one for surprises and I must admit I do live in anticipation of what is coming next. We had friends and family around and we all had a good laugh about it."
Scott added: "I can breathe a sigh of relief now. I am glad it is over and done with. Life is a rollercoaster and you just get on with it. I was worried about how the stag weekend would come across but it was what it was - a stag weekend."
