Victorian values as Masterchef semi-final heads to Blists Hill
Cooking doesn't come any more Victorian than this - as millions of TV viewers will discover this week.
The semi-final of MasterChef is being screened on BBC 1 this Thursday, showing what happened when the eight remaining contestants left the kitchens to create lunch for 70 volunteers and staff at the Blists Hill Victorian Town in Telford.
Presenters John Torode and Gregg Wallace filmed the show earlier this year with contestants Scott Maslen, an actor, TV presenter Sheree Murphy, soul singer and presenter Mica Paris, Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, The Wanted singer Tom Parker, singer songwriter Chesney Hawkes, TV presenter Sam Nixon and TV presenter Rylan Clark.
They got into the spirit of the day by arriving on a horse and cart and exploring the museum before getting down to work.
But the winner of the episode is being kept firmly under wraps and viewers will have to tune in at 9pm to see who triumphs.
Paul Gossage, director of marketing and PR at the museum said: "It's not every day that I receive a phone call asking if I want eight celebrities to cook lunch for our volunteers, and I quickly realised that this was a wonderful opportunity for the museum.
"The actual day of the filming was great fun, with a wonderful atmosphere around the town.
"The 70 volunteers who were treated to the specially-prepared lunch thoroughly enjoyed their meal and seeing behind the scenes of MasterChef.
Blists Hill Victorian Town has often been used as a film location, for a variety of programmes including Dr Who, The Antiques Road Show, The Victorian Pharmacy and even a Christmas music video.
