Video and pictures: Weather fails to dampen Whitchurch Big Gig spirits
[gallery] Musicians and artists braved the showery weather to entertain the crowds at a Big Gig event.
The Our Big Gig was held on Saturday at the Centre North East in and featured people from across the area showcasing their talents.
Despite the unpredictable weather, around 100 people attended the free event organised by Shropshire Council with the support of Whitchurch Town Council.
Nicky Young, spokeswoman for the event, said a great day was had by all.
She said: "Our Big Gig is a national event which we took part in.
"This is the third year we have hosted a Big Gig event but this year we decided to hold it at a different venue.
"We moved it to the youth club to celebrate the 40 years of youth work which has taken place in Whitchurch. So it was a double celebration.
"The day was filled with lots of musical performances and workshops.
"We had a drumming workshop in which the people taking part performed what they learnt at the end. There was also a DJ workshop.
"It was really good and a nice day.
"Even though it rained we put up a Gazebo and chairs for people to have some cover while they listened to the bands. We also had lots of other activities on offer including face painting and glitter tattoos.
"It was a real community event."
Similar events took place across the county in a bid to showcase talent and get communities together.
At the event in Whitchurch there was also a celebration of 40 years of youth activities in the town.
