Shropshire restaurant makes Michelin Guide
A restaurant in a north Shropshire town which opened less than a year ago has made such an impression it will be included in the 2016 Michelin Guide.
The Townhouse in Oswestry opened nine months ago under the guidance of celebrity chef Michael Caines.
The guide describes the restaurant as a "contemporary restaurant in a Georgian townhouse".
It says: "There's a flamboyant cocktail bar, a sunny terrace and an airy dining room featuring glitzy chandeliers. Classical cooking has a modern edge and dishes are attractively presented."
Mr Caines, the two-star Michelin chef who oversees the operational elements of The Townhouse with the owners Mike Scott and Ollie Jackson, said: "I'm absolutely delighted that The Townhouse is included in the 2016 Michelin Guide.
"Michelin is arguably the most revered restaurant guide amongst chefs, restaurant critics and our guests, so I'd like to congratulate the whole team at Oswestry for this brilliant achievement."
And the staff were delighted to hear that the restaurant has earned a place in the prestigious Michelin restaurant guide for next year.
Amy Cross, general manager of the venue in Willow Street, said: "We are all absolutely delighted, very proud and excited to that we have now achieved a listing in the Michelin Guide 2016.
"The Townhouse is growing, going from strength to strength. With a strong repeat customer base now established for our fine dining restaurant, a lively champagne cocktail bar and with the events now flooding in, we are absolutely overjoyed.
"We would like to say a very big thank you and well done to the team, a big team effort with a lot of hard work goes a long way. And an even bigger thank you to all of our customers who have support us this far."
