Whitchurch's annual Blackberry Fair was held in the town centre, with lots of events throughout the day. It featured workshops, stalls, live music and a farmers' market.

Organiser Steve Chapman said: "From the feedback we have got, everyone has really enjoyed the celebrations.

"I think a few thousand people have visited today. There are a lot more people here than last year. Everything wild and wacky is here to make people smile.

"We have had fire eaters, amazing bands, a great street band, folk musicians and storytellers. The Nachda Sansaa Indian bhangra dancing courtesy of Arts Alive was amazing – everyone commented on how good they were.

"This is a free street event for everyone to enjoy.

"This year we had a new wild zone run by the Meres and Mosses group. That has been very popular.

"The event is put on for the community so it has been lovely to see everyone come out to support it. It is for the people in the town and to raise awareness about our planet."

In the evening, people were able to enjoy more live music including a rock 'n' roll band and a brass band concert.

Organisers of the event, which costs between £8,000 and £12,000 to put on, arranged a series of fundraising events to help pay for costs.

Among the fundraisers was a quiz night last month in the Dodington Lodge Hotel.
