Organisers behind the Australian racer's visit to Oswestry have said they are "blown away" by the response from the public.

Webber, who narrowly missed out on the 2010 world championship title to Red Bull teammate Sebastian Vettel before he quit for sportscar racing at the end of 2013, will visit the town on November 11.

The event has been organised by staff at Booka Bookshop on Church Street and will see Webber share stories about his career and sign copies of his new autobiography. It will be held in the hall of The Marches School, which has a capacity of 300.

The event was only announced last week but all the tickets have already been snapped up.

Tim Morris, owner of Booka Bookshop, said: "We've been blown away by the response for tickets. We're sorry if you missed out, but we are taking orders for signed copies of Mark's book."

Webber achieved nine wins, 42 forty-two podiums and 13 pole positions from 215 race starts over a F1 career spanning 12 years. He has since raced for Porsche in the World Endurance Championship.
