Ellesmere Market Hall hailed an overwhelming success
A town's first farmers' market was today declared an overwhelming success.
More than 20 stallholders assembled in Ellesmere Market Hall, one of a number of new initiatives to make more use of the town centre building.
Stalls ranged from fruit and veg, to meat products, breads and cheese and also a range of crafts. The Ellesmere Rangers group held a stall raising funds for a trip to America.
The event was opened by Ellesmere mayor, Councillor Ian Ward.
He praised organisers and thanked stallholders for supporting the market.

"There are many really interesting local suppliers. It is a market not to be missed," he said.
A spokesman for the organisers said: "We are thrilled with the amount of interest we have received from local people and producers alike for our new farmers' market"
The next Ellesmere Farmers' Market will be held on December 13 in the Market Hall from 9am until 4pm. As well as the stalls there will be a Christmas theme with carols and a Santa in residence.
