Santa spreads festive joy
Festive joy has been spread across a town in Shropshire as Father Christmas made his annual tour.
Members of the Rotary Club of Wem and District worked hard to prepare Santa's sleigh for its five-night tour of the town last week.
The sleigh has visited areas in Wem, Baschurch and the surrounding villages in the run-up to the festive period.
And Roger Ashton, community chairman for the club, said the event went very well.
He said: "The Santa sleigh event has been a big success.
"We have been visiting places around the area every night this week. The sleigh looks great all lit up.
"This is our biggest time of year for fundraising. Thank you to everyone who has supported us.
"We have raised about £1,000 on the Santa sleigh event and about £1,200 for the tree of light. The money will be given to local charities such as the Seven Hospice.
"We are also delivering 25 Christmas meals to some elderly people in Wem on Christmas Day."
Mr Ashton added: "I want to say a big thank you to the Old Post Office public house in Wem who will be cooking the meals.
"They will then be collected by Wem Rotarians and distributed out. It all feels nice and festive in the town."
