Last Shrewsbury Fields Forever's director, Dene Edwards, announced that top billing on Saturday night would go to legendary Manchester act The Happy Mondays.

Now Friday night's support act has been revealed as Wretch 32, a rapper who has recorded with Ed Sheeran and Example. Mr Edwards said they were thrilled to have secured their latest act for the festival, which takes place on July 15, 16, and 17, at The Quarry, Shrewsbury.

Mr Edwards said that the announcement of The Happy Mondays had led to a huge boost in ticket sales.

He said: "I think its testament to the popularity of The Happy Mondays and the fact the festival was missed in 2015 that we have witnessed such demand."
