The three family films will be shown on a big screen put up outside Telford Shopping Centre in Telford.

Motorists, their friends and family will be able to enjoy them from the comfort of their own car.

All the films will be shown on May 30, with Despicable Me 2 on the big screen from 2pm, 1980s classic Dirty Dancing showing from 5.30pm and the recently released Star Wars: The Force Awakens film will finish off the evening, from 8.30pm.

The Star Wars film has proved a smash-hit with fans of the popular series and was released in the autumn.

Tickets for the drive-in movie will go on sale on Monday from 9am.

To listen to the film, viewers tune the car radio in to hear all the action through their car speakers.

There will be food and drink available to purchase on the day – but people are welcome to pack a picnic.

Telford & Wrekin councillor Liz Clare, cabinet member for leisure services and culture, said: "We're really excited that we're able to bring back the drive-in movie experience that proved so popular.

"Two years ago film fans turned out in their hundreds to enjoy the drive-in movie experience and we're excited to be able to offer this again," she added.

The films on that occasion included Grease starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.

Tickets will go one sale on Monday from 9am and can be booked online, by calling the Box Office on (01952) 382382, or in person from the Customer Service Desks in Wrekin Square and Shopmobility in Telford Shopping Centre, or by visiting the Box Office at The Place at Oakengates Theatre.

Tickets are £20 per car, plus £2 admin fee, per film.
