Ten supporters of the upcoming Ironbridge Gorge World War Two event took on an 11-mile sponsored walk in costume to raise money for a military charity.

The group walked from Bridgnorth to Ironbridge along the Severn Valley Way to raise funds for the Pilgrim Bandits charity, which supports military personnel with life-changing injuries. Graham Hickman, one of the organisers of the event which is set to take place on May 28 and 29 said the walk went very well.

He said: "It was a very pleasant walk following the River Severn alongside bluebell woods, albeit very dusty in places.

"The walkers took the opportunity to publicise the event with other walkers and cyclists on the route.

"On arrival in Ironbridge they handed out leaflets to visitors to the Gorge and visited a few of the many businesses who are supporting the event."

The event itself being promoted as one of the major reenactments taking place in the UK this year.

It will be held in Dale End Park, running from 10am to 5pm on both days.
