The Big Arts Show will take over Shrewsbury's West Mid Showground this week as sculptors, artists and designers bring their collections of work to the event.

Organisers are busy putting the finishing details in shape for the show, which is expected to attract hundreds to workshops, talks and live music.

David Dawkins, show organiser, said: "We have really pushed the event this year and as in previous years, there will be a variety of work on display, representing the UK's array of talent.

"In response to public demand and to accommodate this, the event name was changed from The Big Art Show to The Big Arts Show in December 2015.

"There will be something for everyone to see and buy as well as activities for them to get involved in and we look forward to welcoming all visitors this year."

The show, which began two years ago, will run from Friday to Sunday (July 1-3) and will this year include paint, sculpture, jewellery, glass, ceramics, furniture design, photography and performance art.

Work from the late 1960s pop artist Stefan Knapp will be on show, along with model jewellery made by patron and renowned artist Andrew Logan.

Logan's jewellery show will take place in the showground pavilion during Sunday afternoon featuring volunteer models to show off the pieces.

There will be a number of demonstrators at the event showing art being created live at the festival.

Ed Burke will show glass blowing while James Daykin demonstrates stone sculpting and Simon O'Rouke will show chainsaw sculpting.

Tickets for the event are £6.60 in advance, which includes a booking fee, and are available to buy online at www.wegottickets.com/thebigartshow
