The seventh Oak Farm Country Fayre and Dog Show in Ditton Priors proved a big success at the weekend.

As well as the dog shows, there was a host of other events and entertainment on including local craft stalls and trade stands and live music. For refreshment there was a real ale bar and afternoon tea also on offer

The dog show itself was made up of nine classes, with a small fee for registration apart from junior handlers under the age of 12, who were allowed to enter for free. Councillor Lee Chapman, Shropshire Council's cabinet member for adult services, said: "It was great to see so many residents from around the county come along to enjoy Oak Farm's Country Fayre and Dog Show.

"Many brought along their four-legged friends along for the fun too."

The event, on Saturday, also serves as a fundraiser for people with learning disabilities.

Councillor Chapman added: "Oak Farm is a fantastic place which has been running now for over 25 years.

"In this time it has grown and flourished into a real community enterprise offering training and work experience in horticulture and agriculture for people with learning disabilities."

Councillor Robert Tindall, local member for Brown Clee, added: "The event attracts many local residents of Ditton Priors as well as people from further afield, so it is always a great opportunity to catch up."
