ABBA and Elvis gets Audlem's 'Party on the Park' event started
It rained – but with Abba and Elvis tribute acts on the bill nobody seemed to mind.
About 2,000 people braved the weather to enjoy a music concert in a village.
Music lovers flocked to Audlem, near Market Drayton, for its annual Party on the Park event.
The event on the village playing field, featured ABBA and Elvis tribute acts as well as a fireworks display at the end of the night.
The ABBA Reunion act was created by the director, producer and choregrapher of the award-winning ABBA Mania musical and stars the original Frida from the London West End cast, Vikki Holland-Bowyer.
Paul Larcombe's Elvis tribute show earned a place in the official top ten Elvis tribute artists by Elvis Presley Enterprises USA.
Organisers today hailed the event on Saturday a success despite the stormy weather.
Geoff Stretch, of the Audlem Special Events Team, which organised the event, said: "It went very well despite the weather not being kind.
"It rained during the morning, by the afternoon it deteriorated, and in the evening we had some very heavy showers.
"But people weren't put off and there must have been about 2,000 people there.
"There were masses of people dancing in front of the stage and they seemed to really enjoy it.
"We had two first class acts. No one I have spoke to has had a bad word to say. They say they had a fab night and want to come back next year.
"People brought their own food and drink as well as tables and chairs. We also had gazebos up around the edge."
The next major event to take place in the village will be its annual festival of transport.
It will feature a display of more than 300 classic vehicles which will parade from Hankelow to Audlem playing field on Sunday, July 31.
Cars, vans, motorcycles, buses and military vehicles will be among the items on display.
Mr Stretch added: "We have a band of people who are prepared to work hard and put these kind of events on."
