There were also more than 20 vintage vehicles along with a number of tractors driving around the town spreading the carnival cheer.

The day opened with the crowning of the Carnival Queen, Lizzie Lancett-Edwards, 15, and her attendant Esme Blood, 17, who then took their places on the regal float.

They were served by page boy Jack Gittins and flower girl Ava Frost.

But it was not only a carnival that took over the town on Saturday. The annual show saw more than 800 entrants in a variety of classes including crafts, cooking and flower arranging.
