WATCH: Ghostbusters uncover surprise during paranormal investigation at pub near Bridgnorth

DIY ghostbusters carried out a paranormal investigation in a village pub to find out what was making things go bump in the night – and uncovered a few surprises.

They performed a stake out, with the help of a couple of experts who claim they have an insight into the 'other side'.

One medium claimed to make contact with a spirit from the First World War during a night of exploration.

But attempts to trace the spirit of Walter – believed to be a former landlord who has been haunting the pub for many years – proved unsuccessful.

Ben Triance, manager of the pub for the last 15 months and a self-confessed sceptic, said: "They put a medium under a trance and they were talking to a man from the First World War.

"He said he was looking for an escape hatch to take five children through who were poisoned and he was trying to rescue them.

"There was also some human pendulum work done, that was quite strange seeing everybody moving in sync with their eyes closed. It was really quite spooky.

"It went really well, there was some weird and wonderful stuff. The lights flickered every time they asked to talk to the spirits and once the candles all just blew out."

About 75 people turned out at the paranormal evening.

Mr Triance said he has always been sceptical but has seen some unexplainable things.

He said: "One night last summer I went to bed, then woke up about 20 minutes later absolutely freezing cold.

"I could even see my breath – then I woke up again an hour later and my throat was swollen.

"I went to the shower room and there were finger marks around my throat.

"I was the only person staying here that night."
