Ellesmere Summer Festival a big hit with visitors
Hundreds of people flocked to Ellesmere at the weekend for an annual festival with live music, art exhibitions and a charity market.
Ellesmere Summer Festival saw the town filled with activities and exhibitions from Friday to Sunday.
Over the three days there were attractions including an art exhibition featuring work created by local talented artists using a variety of mediums, staged in the town's market hall.
There were also plenty of activities for children.
On Saturday there was a craft market and a large farmers' market selling various locally produced items.
On Saturday and Sunday the Ellesmere Model Railway Club hosted its exhibition at the town hall.
Chris Scott, one of the organisers, said there had been a great turnout and it had all gone really well
"What we set out to do was to put on a wide variety of events and create a fun-filled time for all members of the family," he said.
"The feedback from people who came has been great so hopefully we managed to do that.
"In the town hall on Saturday and Sunday starting the Ellesmere Model Railway Club held its model railway exhibition with over 18 layouts and trade stalls.
"Children were able to try their shunting skills on one of the layouts, which seemed to be very popular.
"Down at the canal wharf on the Saturday morning we had a large charity market supporting local charities.
"Entertainment included a Victorian fairground organ.
"Lined up along the canal towpath we had a number of canal traders displaying examples of their various crafts, including a blacksmith working on his forge. It was a real sight to behold.
"Members of the Canal and River Trust opened their historic workshops to the public.
"And for those who did not wish to stroll along the towpath, a water taxi was in operation from the wharfside to the workshops on Saturday and Sunday.
"It was great to see so many people there enjoying the day, and we are already looking towards next year."
Yesterday there was also an open air church service at the wharf at 10.15am.
Meanwhile, for dog lovers there was a dog show in Cremorne Gardens at 12pm yesterday afternoon.
