This year's Alveley Donkey Derby, held near Bridgnorth, was the fourth consecutive year for the popular event.

Jean Jones, committee member for Alveley Recreational Association, said children and young teenagers were acting as jockeys for the donkeys.

She said: "It was absolutely wonderful, we couldn't have wished for a better day. Lots of people were there, lots of stalls, we had a mini football penalty shoot-out going on at the same time.

"We had Zak's Wild Encounters, the children could handle the animals as well. We also had Wyre Forest Archers.

"There were also donkey rides as well as the donkey races.

"All the proceeds go to the Alveley Recreational Association for the upkeep of the recreation ground, I think we did quite well."
